Blairgowrie, Rattray and District Angling Association was formed
from an existing fishing club in the late 19th century and has successfully supported and promoted angling in
Blairgowrie and the surrounding areas. Its objectives are to
encourage angling for salmon, sea trout, brown trout and other fish in the
river Ericht and lochs in the district.
The Association is proud to be empowered by the kind support of two
large riparian
owners to allow fishing on approximately six miles of the river
Ericht, centred around Blairgowrie town and mainly on both banks.
The Association is composed of members with a governing committee
of elected officials. Association membership is restricted to anglers resident in the
postal codes comprising Blairgowrie
and Rattray and district. It currently comprises approximately 300 members, plus honorary,
concessionary, and junior members. The club is managed by a 15
member committee,
led by president David Hogg, secretary Peter Lock, treasurer
William Turner and competition secretary Alasdair Campbell. Regular
committee meetings are held throughout the year with an
Annual General Meeting, normally held in December, receiving the reports
on the affairs of the club and appoints officials for the following
year.
The Association operates a catch and release policy for all
salmon caught in its waters, and
following the guidance of our benefactors we require all
anglers on BDRAA water to follow the TDSFB code for 2012, as
summarised on our rules page.
(The short version of the TDSFB
guidelines can be read
here, or at
the full TDSFB web page
here.)
Salmon catch returns from
all anglers, whether members or visitors, are
to be completed by the end of each fishing session or season for submission, no later
than November 14th, to the Association secretary. Nil returns
are also to be submitted. Print your salmon return
here.
The Association would like to express sincere thanks to the following people for their
support, without which the
Association would not be operational !
Sir W. A. MacPherson of
Cluny Q.C. and Lieutenant General Sir J. Kiszely for the use of salmon fishing
rights.
Mr. G. Petrie, for the
fishing rights to Fingask Loch
and the owners of Druidsmere for the fishing rights to White Loch.
Kate and Paul, at Kate Flemings, for their continued support.
Finally, but not in the least, to all the
other farmers and landowners who favour the
Association with fishing and access rights.
